Video surveillance on Kubernetes

Kerberos Agents as deployments in your K8S cluster

A simple UI build on top of the Kubernetes API, allows you to schedule Kerberos Agents inside your Kubernetes cluster with just a couple of clicks. Updating and upgrading your agents is all done within a few seconds.

Video surveillance on Kubernetes

Kubernetes CLI and Graphana

Leveraging the entire toolset of Kubernetes

As Kerberos Factory is build on top of Kubernetes, it works 100% with the entire Kubernetes ecosystem and toolset.

You can use the tools you already master, such as the Kubernetes command line, prometheus grafana dashboards, nginx ingresses and much more.

IP Camera agnostic

Connect your RTSP and H.264 supported cameras

We do not rely on a set of IP camera vendors, we bring them all! No vendor lock in. Kerberos Enterprise adapts to your landscape. Kerberos Enterprise works with any H.264 supported RTSP stream.

IP Camera agnostic

Scalability, high availability and fail over

We got your back, all industry best practices in a single platform

Scalability
No longer worry about scaling your video surveillance landscape. Kerberos Enterprise is build on top of Kubernetes and allows you to attach the number of nodes your video landscape requires.
High availability
Connect multiple nodes to your clusters, and leverage the concept of Kubernetes deployments. Kerberos Enterprise makes sure your cameras are always on in any circumstance.
Fail over
If one of your nodes go offline, another node will take over the Kerberos agents. When one of your cameras go down you will be notified, and Kerberos will try to reasteblish a connection until it’s available.

Frequently asked questions

Questions & answers

hub Where is my data hosted if i'm using the Kerberos Hub SAAS?
When connecting one or of your cameras to our Kerberos Hub SAAS, your recordings will be stored in a AWS S3 datacenter, in Central Europe. In future releases it will be possible to select a region of interest.
most common Is Kerberos for Enterprise licensed?
Yes and No. Kerberos for Enterprise contains a couple of services such as Kerberos Agent, Factory, Vault and Hub. All services a free of license except Kerberos Hub. When using and installing the Kerberos Hub service you will require a license. For Kerberos Agent, Factory and Vault no license is required.
most common Is Kerberos for Enterprise only limited to video surveillance?
No, Kerberos for Enterprise is used in several video analytics use cases. Kerberos Agents make recordings which trigger pipelines to analyse the relevant recordings with machine learning and/or computer vision algorithms. Kerberos for Enterprise helps in having a scalable and error prone video landscape backbone for surveillance but definitely also video analytics.
license Can I install Kerberos for Enterprise in my own datacenter at the edge or private cloud?
Yes, all solutions within Kerberos for Enterprise can be deployed where you want. The suite is shipped through container images. The recommended and preferred way is to deploy in a Kubernetes cluster, however you might deploy using Docker Compose, OpenShift, Terraform, etc.
Vault Is Kerberos Vault a license product?
Kerberos Vault is part of the Kerberos for Enterprise, but doesn’t require a license (similar to Kerberos Factory). You are free to consume and use Kerberos Vault as you wish.
Factory Is Kerberos Factory a license product?
Factory Vault is part of the Kerberos for Enterprise, but doesn’t require a license (similar to Kerberos Vault). You are free to consume and use Kerberos Factory as you wish.
Agent Can I use Kerberos Agent completely free of charge?
Yes, of course! Kerberos Agent is Open Source through a MIT license. We want to give back to the community, and we will keep working and improving this.
Agent How many Kerberos Agents can I run? Is there a benchmark?
We have documented a benchmark of 30 full-HD cameras on a single Intel NUC. A Kerberos Agent consumes around 50MB of memory, 2% of a CPU and a few MBs of disk. Compared to a traditional NVR (8 slots), you are able to run 5x to 6x more cameras considering the same hardware specs.
Roadmap Can I influence the development of the Kerberos ecosystem
Yes you can, all products are continuously extended with new capabilities and features. You can check the roadmap for more details. Partners and paying customers will have more influence and can request specific features with higher priorities.
Hub Can I install Kerberos Hub in my own datacenter?

Yes, Kerberos Hub can be installed anywhere where you want. We have a helm chart available for you to install the entire Kerberos Hub solution.

Please note that you will need to request a license to be able to download the appropriate container images and to access to the Kerberos Hub application..

Hub Can I integrate my own machine learning models into Kerberos Hub?
Yes, next to storing your recordings with Kerberos Vault you can also use it to integrate with custom machine learning pipelines. Imagine, you have cameras making recordings and persisting them in your preferred storage with Kerberos Vault. Everytime a recording comes in, Kerberos Vault will fire an event (Kafka, SQS, etc) which can be consumed by a subscribed machine learning pipeline. After the machine learning pipeline did its magic, it will have generated some metadata that then can be forwarded in the Kerberos Hub queue.
Hub What is the Kerberos Hub Pipeline about?
Kerberos Hub comes with a bunch of microservices for pre and post processing of recordings. To streamline these microservices we have implemented a Kerberos Hub Pipeline. This pipeline, which relies on Kafka, allows you to scale, have high availability in place, and most importantly, allow for implementing custom code and functions.
Hub Can I update the Kerberos Hub layout?
Yes, Kerberos Hub can be modified to match you company branding and color palette. By providing and injecting a custom stylesheet you can make it your own application. Next to changing the CSS, you can also update the logo, favicons and icons.
Agent Which cameras do you support?
Kerberos Agents support any RTSP, H264(+) encoded streams, as this codec allows us to build an efficient and scalable VMS, which is supported by most devices and browsers.
Agent Is my data encrypted?
A Kerberos Agent has to option for end-to-end encryption using AES and RSA. You can encrypt and decrypt your data using an AES key. When connected to Kerberos Hub you can also end-to-end encrypt your live streams using AES, RSA and a passphrase.
Agent Can I leverage ONVIF capabilities?
Yes, a Kerberos Agent integrates with the ONVIF protocol for PTZ (presets), Stream Discovery, audio back channel and more.
Hub How is Kerberos Hub licensed?
The Kerberos Hub is a fixed monthly/yearly fee, which includes unlimited number of cameras and sites. You pay per installation on our private cloud, or get an unlimited license for on premise/private (self-hosted) deployments.
Vault Can I store recordings in my own storage?
Yes, and that’s the reason why we have build Kerberos Vault. We want our customers to persist their recordings wherever they want: at the edge, private cloud, public cloud or hybrid.
Enterprise Suite Is Kerberos for Enterprise Suite suite licensed per camera?
The Kerberos for Enterprise offers an unlimited license, this means you can use it in whatever situation you want.
Vault Can I have Kerberos Vault in multiple regions to improve latency?

Yes, 100%. Within a single Kerberos Vault you can create multiple providers. Each of those providers (AWS S3, GCP, Minio, Ceph, etc), might be stored in a different region.

Considering the agents locations, and the end users monitoring the recordings , you might need to store them in a closer region.

With Kerberos Hub you can assign a specific site to a Kerberos Vault, so the best latency can be guaranteed.

Hub Does Kerberos Agent has livestreaming capabilities?
Yes, livestreams are send from the Kerberos Agent and are visualised in the Kerberos Hub solution. You will see a low resolution stream (JPEG), and a high resolution streaming using WebRTC.
Enterprise Suite Does Kerberos for Enterprise run on K3S?
Yes, it can both run on Kubernetes (K8S) and on K3S. The installation might be slightly different as in K3S you already have a specific ingress build in. We have customers running on various Kubernetes alternative distributions/
